W. printed title in red and black, engr. vignet on title ('J. Wandelaar inv. et fec. 1733'; "Omnia Tempore Nota"), engr. front. (Invention of the saw mill and engr. laudatory poem for C.C. van Uytgeest) by Schenk after A. v.d. laan, 56 (on 55) engr. double page pls. (1 plate large folding illustrating nrs. 37 and 38), 6 double page 'Tabula' pls. followed by 2 double page pls. Total of 64 (on 63) magnificent engravings by Jan Schenk. Contemp. half roan, spine, edges and corners rubbed. (Large paper.). BdH 5482: A second edition of this wonderful classic, similar in quality of paper and printing, to the book by Van Natrus mentioned earlier in this selection of books on mills. The engravings in this publication by Jan Schenk. (Waller p. 287; Thieme B. XXX, 28; Nagler XVII, 157). Of particular interest are the engraved frontispiece combined with a laudatory poem on the invention of the saw-mill by Cornelis Corneliszoon Uytgeest. The 4 lines of poetry in the illustration itself by H.I. Soet, the other 24 lines unsigned. Of the 6 plus 2 'Tabula' at the end of the book, 3 engravings depict the workings of a so called 'blue paper' mill.
