When he and other Jewish staff members at the university were stripped of their positions by the Nazi occupiers (and later deported first to Westerbork, then Theresienstadt), Van Taalingen-Dols became his lawyer and, along with Profs. Willem van Eysinga and Petrus Idenburg, as well as others at Leiden University, fought for him on his behalf. The book documents this fight with a chronology and selected source texts. Text in Dutch, some text in German. - Rather rare.
