Some text figures. Hardcover, bound in the original publisher's full cloth, gilt lettering to spine, short split at head of spine, corner-tips trifle chafed. In a very good internal condition, fine crisp plates. ~ First edition. Part I, Texts (all published). University of Michigan Studies, Humanistic Series, XXXIV. Splendid illustrations. Collotype is one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. It has been used for single-sheet prints and luxury portfolios, and since the 1950s has been abandoned by all except a few small specialist firms. ~ Provenance: From the library of Papyrologist Prof. Dr. Klaas Worp with his small signature to first free endpaper.
