Hardcover, bound in contemporary cloth and marbled boards, spine gilt, French corners, small shelf number in white at foot of spine, spine-ends trifle worn. In a very good condition. ¶ ~ First edition. Georg Avellis (1864-1916), rhino-laryngologist until his death, known for 'Avellis' syndrome', recurrent paralysis of the soft palate, a term which was coined by Marcel Lermoyez (1858-1929). Previously in the Medizinhistorische Bibliothek der Universität Basel with a stamp to this effect on first free endpaper. At one time belonged to Prof. Harald Feldmann, Münster, with a small ticket to that effect on first paste-down. Very rare.
