With 3 title-pages. Original wrappers, browned as usual due to inferior paper quality, lower wrap slightly stained; old signature to half-title. In a very good condition. ¶ ~ First edition. Zandee's original doctoral dissertation, presented at the Leiden University, July 1948. This Doctor of Theology degree was his first. Exactly 12 years later he obtained a further doctor's degree, in the faculty of arts, with his renowned study on death 'Death as an Enemy' (Brill, 1960, also offered by Librarium). [AND:] The present copy includes the rare 13-point Thesis Statement, loosely inserted. Jan Zandee (1914-1991).
