Description: Ghendt, Ian Dankaerts a.o., 1693. 12 volumes 4to (20 x 16 cm). 19th century full calf, covers blindstamped, backs gilt (faded). Hinges with small tears, corners sl. bumped, 2 backs cracked, some repairs to bindings, but strong bindings and firm bookblocks apart from the first quire of the first volume, which is loosening. Inner state: of vol. 1 frontispiece cut off till the plate and pasted on, title seriously damaged and repaired with white paper; of vol. 5 frontispiece cut short and pasted on verso title; of vol. 6 title cut out around the text and pasted on verso frontispiece; serious repairs to these 2 titles with white paper; all the fly-leaves (schutbladen) of the 12 volumes are missing. With 12 frontispieces and 10 (of 12) coats of arms, otherwise a complete set. Text in Dutch. Each volume has a dedication to a different person, accompanied with an engraving (10 of 12) showing his or her coats of arms: Johannes de Bejar, Bernardus Zoetaert, Petrus van der Woestyne, Carolina Theresia de Camargo, etc. - Collation (excluding the plates): vol. 1: (xxviii, 593, (iii) pp (last quires ( "Tafel") waterstained, inner margins repaired), vol. 2: (viii), 761, (i) pp., vol. 3: (xii), 753, (iii) pp., vol. 4: (xii), 747, (v) pp., vol. 5: (x), 767, (v) pp., vol. 6: (xii), 799, (v) pp., vol. 7: (viii), 774, (vi) pp.; vol. 8: (xii), 744, (viii) pp. (inner margin frontisp. and title damaged), vol. 9: (x), 801, (v) pp., vol. 10: (xii), 814, (iv) pp., vol. 11: (xii), 855, (v) pp. (last leaf stained, inner margin repaired), vol. 12: (x), 763, (v) pp. - A complete set is hardly to find, because the volumes were published between 1693 and 1720 by 4 different publishers in this order: Jan Danckaert, Maximilianen Graet, Livinus de Clerck and Franciscus & Dominicus van der Ween.
